The Planning Group Ltd has been commissioned by several clients over the past few years to assist with advising and procuring planning consent for holiday let accommodation – this can range from conversion of existing buildings to glamping and caravans, both static and tourers.   The coronavirus pandemic saw an upsurge in staycations, and this has remained a buoyant market.

One successfully obtained consent was for 4 shepherds huts and 4 Lotus-Belle tents, an office plus laundry building, sauna and gym together with a solar panel array to power the integral and external LED lighting.   Another was the diversification of an established equestrian site with the addition of five converted container units to provide holiday accommodation together with associated drainage facilities to allow the client to undertaken ridden camps and also standalone holidays.

These applications require a considerable amount of thought and supporting documentation i.e. management plans, a viable business case and sustainability credentials.  Local Council policy is usually quite strict with regards to brand new startups and this should be considered when evaluating a site for its holiday potential.
